Can You Spell Spears?


I was boinking around on Google.com recently and stumbled onto a list of the many ways people have tried to spell Britney Spears.

Found this page collected by Google of misspelled queries for Britney Spears. Each was entered by two different people within a three month period. Some I can understand: Brittany, Brittney, Britteny, sure. Some are common typos: Britneyy, Britneny, Btitney, even Ritney. But some people aren't even trying: Bitny, Brinet, Pretny?

On a related note, week's New Scientist magazine (June 19-25) had a letter in the Feedback column about searching for typos with Google. The example in New Scientist was result mistyped as reslut, which the author understandably felt compelled to Google. Then New Scientist tried their favorite typo university as unviersity.

'Course Britney Spaers finds a lot of hits too.
